Why are triumphs called trumpets

So where does that leave us? Back in the days during my education as a smith, I started a small business at the technical college, engine rebuilding and tuning the other boys mopeds, having my closet in the locker room filled with new parts, took their bikes home in the afternoon rebuild them during the evening and delivered them back next morning after I had given them a couple of hundred kilometers in the morning.

A couple of years ago in the beginning of my thirties I got the dream back on track, and the design for this one 1 goes back to these technical college days. I found the frame in a US imported container that just came home to a classic bike dealer, and the rest here and there, but never had any doubt about the design.

Everything on the bike is new, or totally rebuilt. Actually the next one halfway done was one of my RD, which was stripped and started shaping, but then I just had abandon it to leave space for a Kawa Z Those early bikes gained the nicknamed Trumpets from their owners.

It also intones a celebration of the imperialism of the time, and the six flags possibly represent the continents covered by the Commonwealth. A shrewd businessman and Bavarian skilled in import and export, he recognised that Coventry was the then silicon valley of the bike world and added red, white and blue to the patriotic mix as well as emphasising the links with Coventry.

Clever move. This was the start of the age of the science of brand with the advent of television so the logo, with its distinctive smile line, was born. Every element of the logo was sharpened up a little and the smile line brought to the front of the H to give it more balance, reflecting the new-found strength and stability of the brand. The new design simplified the main strokes of the letters even further whilst introducing a more flowing feel with subtle rounded letter edge detailing.

This added even more personality and distinctiveness whilst maintaining the classic overall logo form and smile line. The first step was to subtly update the letters, making the spacing and alignments more symmetrical, lowering the height of the T and lightening the letter forms a little.
